Fewer Personal Data Fields Stored
HUD revised CAIVRS record categories: CAIVRS will now contain only Social Security Numbers, Taxpayer ID Numbers, and Employer Identification Numbers. HUD removed Full Name, Date of Birth, Email Address, Work Address, Home Address, Mother's Maiden Name, and FHA Case Number from the system of records.
Agencies May Pre‑Screen Using CAIVRS
HUD states that participating Federal agencies and certain listed agencies (VA, SBA, Department of Education, USDA, DOJ) may use CAIVRS to pre-screen applicants to determine if they are presently delinquent on Federal debt and whether they are eligible for a new federally backed loan or grant. The system is a shared inter‑agency database where agencies are required to report delinquent federal debt.
CAIVRS Stored on Microsoft Azure Cloud
HUD updated where CAIVRS is stored: it will remain at NASA's John C. Stennis Space Flight Center in Mississippi and will also be located in Microsoft Azure Federal Cloud (US East Data Center, One Microsoft Way, Redmond, WA). The change is part of the system location update in the modified system of records notice.
