Final Flood Map Changes Announced
FEMA has finalized changes to flood hazard information (Base Flood Elevations, base flood depths, Special Flood Hazard Area boundaries, zone designations, or regulatory floodways) for communities in Alameda County, California; Des Moines County, Iowa; Dixon County, Nebraska; and Shelby County, Texas. If you own or rent property in those areas, check the new Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs) and Flood Insurance Study (FIS) reports by May 26, 2026 at the local map repository or online at the FEMA Map Service Center.
Communities Must Adopt Floodplain Measures
The finalized FIRMs and, where applicable, FIS reports are the basis of the floodplain management measures that a community must either adopt or show evidence of having in effect to qualify or remain qualified for participation in FEMA's National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP). Communities listed in the notice have had appeals resolved and the determinations are final.
Maps Available at Repositories and Online
By May 26, 2026, the updated FIRMs and FIS reports will be available for inspection at the listed community map repository addresses and online through the FEMA Map Service Center (https://msc.fema.gov). Interested lessees and owners of real property are encouraged to review the new or revised maps and reports.
