Analyzed Economic Effects
3 provisions identified: 2 benefits, 1 costs, 0 mixed.
Modernizes 1950s Gas Lines
Columbia Gas plans to replace vintage pipeline infrastructure installed in the 1950s with modern pipeline facilities across parts of Kentucky and Hamilton County, Ohio. The company says the Project’s purpose is to reduce safety and reliability risks and to ensure continued compliance with federal and state pipeline regulations.
Construction Impacts and Service Risk
The Project would abandon 48.54 miles of existing transmission pipeline and build 30.16 miles of new transmission and lateral pipelines, which commenters said could cause construction effects like noise, dust, and traffic and could affect land use, easement locations, and property value. Commenters also raised concerns about long-term safety and the potential for loss of residential taps (household gas service) along the route.
Public Comment Window and Decision Dates
FERC staff will prepare an environmental assessment (EA) for the Project, with the EA scheduled for issuance on July 31, 2026 and published for a 30-day public comment period. The related federal authorization decision deadline for agencies is October 29, 2026.
