Instrument approach and takeoff changes

Starting April 7, 2026, the FAA is establishing, amending, suspending, or removing Standard Instrument Approach Procedures (SIAPs), Takeoff Minimums, and Obstacle Departure Procedures (ODPs) for specified airports to promote safe instrument flight operations. The rule lists specific procedure amendments and notes many individual items with an effective date of May 14, 2026 at 0901 UTC.

Free online access to procedure data

All SIAPs, Takeoff Minimums, and ODPs are available online free of charge through the National Flight Data Center (nfdc.faa.gov) after registration; individual copies may also be obtained from the FAA Air Traffic Organization Service Area. The incorporation by reference is approved as of April 7, 2026.

Some procedures effective with short notice

The FAA may make some SIAP, Takeoff Minimums, and ODP amendments effective in less than 30 days or immediately (including previously issued emergency FDC NOTAM actions) when required for flight safety. Compliance dates for each procedure are specified in the amendatory language and may be less than 30 days after publication.

No significant small-entity economic impact

The FAA certifies that this amendment will not have a significant economic impact on a substantial number of small entities under the Regulatory Flexibility Act. The agency determined the anticipated impact is minimal and routine.
