The University of Vermont determined that 10 Native American individuals and 100 associated funerary objects are culturally affiliated with the Stockbridge‑Munsee Community, Wisconsin. These human remains and objects may be repatriated to the tribe on or after May 11, 2026.

Who May Request Repatriation and Process

Requests for repatriation may be submitted by any of the Indian Tribes or Native Hawaiian organizations identified in the notice, or by any lineal descendant, tribe, or organization not identified that shows by a preponderance of the evidence a cultural affiliation. If competing requests are received, the University of Vermont must determine the most appropriate requestor; joint requests count as a single request.
