Rhode Island Regional Haze Plan Approved

The EPA approved Rhode Island's March 7, 2025 State Implementation Plan revision for the Regional Haze second implementation period and approved Prong 4 of the September 23, 2020 infrastructure SIP for the 2015 ozone NAAQS. This federal approval becomes effective May 11, 2026 and incorporates Rhode Island's plan into the State Implementation Plan (SIP).

EPA certified that this SIP approval will not impose additional federal requirements beyond state law, will not result in expenditures of $100,000,000 or more (so UMRA statement is not required), will not create an information collection burden under the Paperwork Reduction Act, and will not have a significant economic impact on a substantial number of small entities under the Regulatory Flexibility Act. These certifications apply to the EPA action effective May 11, 2026.
