U.S. Extends Duties on Mexican and Turkish Steel Bars

Published Date: 4/13/2026

Notice

Summary

The U.S. government is keeping special taxes on steel bars from Mexico and Türkiye because stopping them could hurt American businesses. These taxes help stop unfair pricing and unfair government help from those countries. This decision started on April 8, 2026, and means importers will keep paying extra fees for now.

Antidumping and Countervailing Duties Continue

The U.S. is continuing the antidumping (AD) and countervailing (CVD) duty orders on steel reinforcing bar (rebar) from Mexico and Türkiye. U.S. Customs and Border Protection will continue to collect AD and CVD cash deposits at the rates in effect at the time of entry for all imports of the covered rebar, effective April 8, 2026.

Which Rebar Shipments Are Covered

The orders apply to steel concrete reinforcing bar (rebar) imported in straight length or coil form regardless of metallurgy, length, diameter, or grade. The notice lists primary HTSUS numbers for covered imports, including 7213.10.0000, 7214.20.0000, and 7228.30.8010, and additional HTSUS numbers enumerated in the notice.

Certain Rebar Products Are Excluded

The scope specifically excludes plain rounds (non-deformed or smooth rebar) and excludes deformed steel wire meeting ASTM A1064/A1064M with no bar markings and without being subject to an elongation test. Importers of these excluded items are not covered by the continued AD/CVD orders described in this notice.
