Scoping meetings to shape fishery rules

The New England Fishery Management Council is holding five scoping meetings between April 27, 2026 and May 11, 2026 to collect comments on monkfish and skate fishery improvements. Fishermen, local communities, and other stakeholders can speak or submit comments that the Council will review in June 2026 and use when setting 2027 work priorities in December 2026.

Public comment deadline and submission options

Public comments on monkfish and skate fishery scoping are due by Monday, May 18, 2026. You can mail comments to the Council at 50 Water Street, Mill #2, Newburyport, MA 01950 (mark envelopes "Monkfish and Skate Fishery Improvements Scoping Comments") or email them to [email protected].
