Rule

Summary

Starting April 16, 2026, the FAA is updating how pilots approach and take off from certain airports to keep flights safe and smooth. Analyzed Economic Effects

4 provisions identified: 3 benefits, 0 costs, 1 mixed.

New and Revised Instrument Procedures

Starting April 16, 2026, the FAA is establishing, amending, suspending, or removing Standard Instrument Approach Procedures (SIAPs), Takeoff Minimums, and Obstacle Departure Procedures (ODPs) for the airports listed in the amendatory provisions. The rule lists specific procedure changes and identifies per-entry effective dates (many entries show an effective date of May 14, 2026).

Some Procedures May Become Effective Quickly

Some SIAPs and Takeoff Minimums and textual ODP amendments may be made effective in less than 30 days (including emergency actions previously issued by Flight Data Center NOTAMs) when circumstances require immediate flight safety action. The rule provides that where applicable, good cause exists to make some procedures effective in less than 30 days.

Free Online Access to Procedure Charts

All SIAPs and Takeoff Minimums and ODPs are available online free of charge via the FAA National Flight Data Center (nfdc.faa.gov). Pilots and interested parties may register to view these materials or obtain copies from the FAA Air Traffic Organization Service Area for the affected airport.

FAA Finds Minimal Small-Entity Impact

The FAA certifies that this amendment involves routine technical regulations and "will not have a significant economic impact on a substantial number of small entities" under the Regulatory Flexibility Act. The FAA also states this is not a "significant regulatory action" under Executive Order 12866.
