The Council will review public lands to identify areas currently unreachable or unavailable for public hunting and recommend solutions or options to increase public access to hunting opportunities.

Promote Development of Shooting Ranges

The Council will encourage hunting and shooting sports safety, including through development of ranges on public lands. It will make recommendations to improve and enhance agency infrastructure that benefits wildlife and enhances public access in accordance with the Federal Lands Recreation Enhancement Act and the Great American Outdoors Act.

Effort to Recruit Hunters and Highlight Economic Benefits

The Council will make recommendations to recruit and retain new hunters and shooting sports enthusiasts and to increase public awareness of the social and economic benefits of hunting and the shooting sports.

Unpaid Council Seats; Travel Reimbursement

The Council will appoint members to serve up to 3-year terms, and members serve without compensation. While on approved Council or subcommittee business away from home, members may be allowed travel expenses, including per diem, as authorized by 5 U.S.C. 5703.
