Survey data used to shape health programs

CDC uses the NSFG to produce nationally representative data on birth and pregnancy rates, family formation and dissolution patterns, and reproductive health that help shape health programs and policies affecting families across the country. The NSFG produces statistics on contraception, infertility, marriage, cohabitation, sexual activity, and medical care related to reproductive health.

If selected, your household may be screened (13,000 households screened over the survey period) and one person aged 15–49 may be asked to do the main survey. The household screener averages 5 minutes, the male main survey averages 50 minutes, the female main survey averages 75 minutes, and CDC estimates a total annual respondent burden of 6,471 hours. There is no monetary cost to respondents other than their time.
