Who May Request Repatriation and Process
Written requests for repatriation may be submitted to the USACE representative by any of the Indian Tribes or Native Hawaiian organizations identified in the notice, or by a lineal descendant or unlisted tribe that proves affiliation by a preponderance of the evidence. If competing requests are received, the USACE must determine the most appropriate requestor before repatriation; joint requests are treated as a single request. Repatriation may occur on or after May 26, 2026.
