IER enforces anti-discrimination protections

If you are an immigrant or employee, the Immigrant and Employee Rights Section (IER) enforces Section 274B of the Immigration and Nationality Act (8 U.S.C. 1324b), which prohibits citizenship or immigration status discrimination, national-origin discrimination, unfair documentary practices during Form I-9 and E-Verify, and retaliation for asserting covered rights. IER investigates charges, may litigate where there is reasonable cause, and may forward charges to other federal, state, or local agencies if it lacks jurisdiction.

Easier mobile-friendly charge form

If you are an immigrant or employee wanting to report workplace immigration or national-origin discrimination, DOJ is updating the Immigrant and Employee Rights (IER) Charge Form to make it easier to complete and more functional on mobile devices. The form remains voluntary, the agency estimates 918 people will file annually, each taking about 30 minutes (459 annual hours), and the update is described as having no additional monetary costs (Total Estimated Annual Other Costs Burden: $0).
