Major-portion gas prices for 2024 set
The Office of Natural Resources Revenue published the major portion gas prices ($/MMBtu) for each month of calendar year 2024 for designated areas not tied to an index zone. Areas listed are Fort Berthold, Fort Peck, Navajo Allotted Leases in the Navajo Reservation, and Turtle Mountain; for example, Navajo Jan 2024 is $3.59/MMBtu and Fort Berthold Jan 2024 is $1.99/MMBtu.
Deadline to pay additional royalties
If you (a lessee) owe additional royalties because of the 2024 major portion prices, you must submit an amended ONRR-2014 Report of Sales and Royalty Remittance and pay those royalties by July 31, 2026. Payments received after that date are treated as late.
Late interest begins if payment missed
If a lessee fails to pay additional royalties by July 31, 2026, late payment interest will begin to accrue under 30 CFR 1218.54 from that due date until ONRR receives payment. Interest accrual increases the total amount you must pay if you miss the deadline.
