On May 16, 2026, from 8 p.m. to midnight, the Coast Guard is setting up a temporary safety zone around a fireworks barge in Laguna Madre near South Padre Island, TX. Boats and people can’t enter within 800 feet of the barge unless they get special permission. This rule keeps everyone safe from fireworks hazards and won’t cost anyone money.
