Dugout Canoe Repatriation to Chenega

The Chugach National Forest intends to return a dugout canoe to the Native Village of Chenega, with disposition allowed on or after June 18, 2026. If no written claim is received by May 19, 2027, the canoe will be treated as an unclaimed cultural item; written claims must be sent to the Forest Supervisor at 161 E 1st Avenue, Door 8, Anchorage, AK 99501.
