30-Day Pause on Entry from Three Countries

Starting May 18, 2026, the CDC suspended entry for certain noncitizen travelers who departed from or were present in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Uganda, or South Sudan during the last 21 days. The suspension lasts 30 days from May 18, 2026 and is intended to reduce the risk of importing Ebola disease (Bundibugyo virus strain).

Specific Exceptions Preserve Entry Rights

The Order does not apply to U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals, and lawful permanent residents. It also excepts members of the U.S. armed forces and associated personnel, U.S. government personnel serving overseas (and their spouses and children) subject to required assurances, persons excepted by customs officers with supervisor approval, and noncitizens admitted through a DHS-approved process that includes mitigation protocols.
