Mandatory EPA Reporting for Reservation Sources

If you own or operate an air emissions source or are a tribal government on the identified Indian reservations in Idaho, Oregon, or Washington, you are required to respond to EPA information collection under the Federal Implementation Plans. The EPA estimates 1,502 respondents, a total burden of 4,034 hours per year, and total respondent costs of $395,412 per year; responses are mandatory under 40 CFR part 49 and comments on this ICR are due August 3, 2026.

Data Used to Manage Reservation Air Quality

The EPA will use the collected information to manage activities and sources of air pollution on Indian reservations in Idaho, Oregon, and Washington under the Federal Air Rules for Indian Reservations (FARR) at 40 CFR part 49. The information enables EPA to develop records of pollution sources, issue permits or approvals, and verify compliance with FARR provisions such as 40 CFR 49.122, 49.124, 49.126, and 49.138–49.139.
