One-Year Funding Extension for 21 NHE Projects

The Department proposes to allow 21 Native Hawaiian Education (ALN 84.362A) projects to receive funding for up to one additional 12-month period, extending their project period to no later than September 30, 2027. The current project period for these FY 2023 grantees ends August 31, 2026, and continuation awards would be issued in FY 2026 if the waiver is finalized.

Continuation Funding Requires Certification and Compliance

Grantees seeking continuation awards in FY 2026 must certify they have the capacity to continue activities, and any continuation funds must be consistent with the approved FY 2023 project scope. The Secretary will consider progress toward goals, proper expenditure of funds, performance targets, and compliance with Federal civil rights laws when making continuation determinations.
