Two‑Hour Visa Medical Exam Burden

If you are an alien applying for a U.S. visa or immigration benefit, you must complete a medical examination that the Department estimates takes about 2 hours. The Department estimates 696,800 respondents, 696,000 responses, and a total burden of 1,392,000 hours; the exam and forms are required to obtain or retain the visa or immigration benefit and are performed once per medical examination.

Medical Data Retention and Sharing

Medical information collected on these forms is retained by the Bureau of Consular Affairs and is provided to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the Department of Homeland Security, and any other U.S. government agencies with lawful authority. The Department states this includes use for law enforcement and immigration enforcement purposes.

Electronic Submission Requirement for Physicians

Panel physicians designated by consular posts must submit form DS-7794 electronically; when a medical case cannot be completed electronically with DS-7794, the physician or respondent must submit DS-2054, DS-3025, DS-3026, and DS-3030 as a packet to the embassy or consulate via secure email, courier service, or by providing the completed forms to the applicant in a sealed envelope.
