Summary

Cboe EDGX Exchange just rolled out a new Clock Service that helps users sync their time systems perfectly with the Exchange. This affects both members and non-members who want precise timing for their trading activities.

Analyzed Economic Effects

4 provisions identified: 1 benefits, 3 costs, 0 mixed.

Monthly $7,500 Clock Service Fee

If your firm subscribes to Cboe's Clock Service, the Exchange charges $7,500 per month starting May 18, 2026. That monthly fee includes a single 1 Gbps physical port (which may be used only to receive the time signal) and the service can be used for all eight Cboe exchanges; the service is optional and open to Members and non-Members.

Optional Redundant Connection: $2,500/Month

If your firm wants a backup Clock Service connection, Cboe offers an optional redundant 1 Gbps physical port for $2,500 per month. Firms may purchase multiple secondary connections if they choose.

One-Time HATI Licensing Setup Fee: $5,000

If your firm does not use a Safran White Rabbit-enabled switch, you must pay a one-time High-Accuracy Timing IP Core (HATI) setup fee of $5,000 for each physical connection to use the Clock Service; for example, two connections would incur $10,000 in one-time fees.

30-Day Free Trial for New Subscribers

New subscribers who have never before signed up for Cboe Clock Service receive the first 30 days of the Clock Service free; the trial applies only to the monthly Clock Service fee and does not waive the one-time HATI setup fee or fees for additional connections. The free trial began with the adoption of the fees on May 18, 2026.
