Apply to Join FAA Advisory Panel

If you work in aviation or aviation technology, you can apply to serve on the National Airspace System Advisory Committee. Nominations (self-nominations allowed) must be received on or before July 20, 2026, and the Committee will have no more than 25 members appointed by the Secretary who serve 2-year terms and may be reappointed.

Unpaid, Mostly Virtual Committee Meetings

Members are not paid for service (proposed payments to members $0) and reimbursable costs are listed as $0, but the Committee is expected to meet about three times a year and, unless required otherwise, all meetings will be held virtually.

Guaranteed Industry Representation Seats

The Committee must include representation from aerospace sectors: manufacturers, airports, air traffic management suppliers, general aviation/cargo/fleet operators, commercial space, plus at least one powered-lift industry representative and one unmanned aircraft system industry representative with demonstrated expertise.

Committee Charter and Spending Details

The FAA renewed the committee charter (renaming it the National Airspace System Advisory Committee); the Committee will advise on investment priorities and airspace modernization. FAA estimates annual operating costs for the NAC at approximately $200,000, including 1.0 full-time equivalent and $175,000 for other Federal costs.
