Continued American Indian VR services through 2027

You (American Indian individuals with disabilities) will keep receiving vocational rehabilitation (VR) services because the Department extended funding for 43 American Indian Vocational Rehabilitation Services (AIVRS) projects and one AIVR Training and Technical Assistance Center through September 30, 2027. The waivers that allow projects to run past the usual five-year limit are effective July 20, 2026.

One-year continuation funding for 43 grantees

The Department will permit 43 AIVRS grantees (Assistance Listing Number 84.250N) and one AIVRTTAC grantee (ALN 84.250Z) to receive FY2026 continuation awards based on their Year 5 planned amount, with funding not to extend beyond September 30, 2027. The waivers (effective July 20, 2026) allow the Department to obligate additional Federal funds and rely on the Year 5 planned amounts listed in the Proposed Waivers and Extensions (91 FR 16599), pending carryover review.
