Analyzed Economic Effects
4 provisions identified: 1 benefits, 3 costs, 0 mixed.
New Monthly Fees for Cross-Connects
Nasdaq MRX changed pricing for non-contiguous intrafirm cabinet cross-connects from a prior $550 installation fee with no monthly charge to no installation fee and ongoing monthly fees: $385.00 for 1 cross-connect, $450.00 for 6, $540.00 for 12, $630.00 for 18, and $720.00 for 24 cross-connects. The Exchange says these fees will be charged on an ongoing monthly basis to new customers and to established customers upon implementation.
Exchange-only Non-Contiguous Fiber
If you use Nasdaq MRX data center halls, non-contiguous intrafirm cabinet fiber that traverses shared data center space must now be obtained from the Exchange rather than from third parties. The rule change says Nasdaq MRX will furnish, inventory, monitor, audit, and maintain that fiber and third parties will no longer be permitted to provide that intrafirm cabinet connectivity within the Exchange's data center halls.
Exchange Control and Oversight Increased
Nasdaq MRX will administer, inventory, monitor, audit, and maintain non-contiguous intrafirm cabinet connectivity in its data center halls and will exercise supervisory oversight over the data center environment. The Exchange says this change aims to strengthen controls, auditability, and troubleshooting for the connectivity infrastructure.
No Custom-Installation Option for This Service
Customers would no longer be able to order non-contiguous intrafirm cabinet connectivity as a Custom Installation under Rule General 8, Section 1(d). Instead, the service is expressly listed under Fiber in Section 1(b) and must be obtained under that subsection.
