Foreign-Built Small Vessel Request
MARAD received a request to allow the foreign-built vessel M/V HAIDA EXPLORER to engage in U.S. coastwise trade carrying no more than 12 passengers for hire. MARAD is asking for public comments, with supporting documentation, on whether that proposed use would have an undue adverse effect on U.S. vessel builders or on coastwise trade businesses that use U.S.-built vessels; comments are due by September 9, 2026 (DOT Docket No. MARAD-2026-1259).
