Analyzed Economic Effects

2 provisions identified: 2 benefits, 0 costs, 0 mixed.

Shorter wait to retake FINRA exams

If you are trying to register to work in the securities industry, MIAX shortened the waiting times to retake FINRA qualification exams: you may retake after 15 days following a first or second failed attempt, and after 60 days for a third or subsequent failed attempt that occurs within a two-year period. Previously the Exchange required 30 days after a failed attempt and 180 days after three or more failures within two years; the Exchange filed this change on August 6, 2026 and made it effective upon filing.

Harmonized rules for dual Exchange/FINRA members

If your firm is a member of both MIAX and FINRA, MIAX aligned its qualification-exam retake waiting periods with FINRA’s (15 days for first/second failures; 60 days for third/subsequent within two years) to avoid different requirements for dual members. The Exchange states this harmonization reduces compliance burdens for dual members and took effect upon the August 6, 2026 filing.
