Published Date: 8/21/2026

Notice

Summary

This notice announces the intention of the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) to request that the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) approve the reinstatement with change of the previously approved information collection project "AHRQ Research Reporting System (ARRS)" OMB No 0935-0122. This information collection was previously published in the Federal Register on June 17, 2026, and allowed 60 days for public comment. AHRQ did not receive any comments. The purpose of this notice is to allow an additional 30 days for public comment. The package expired on July 31, 2027.

Analyzed Economic Effects

3 provisions identified: 0 benefits, 3 costs, 0 mixed.

Scope expanded to include contractors

AHRQ clarified that the AHRQ Research Reporting System (ARRS) applies to award recipients and now explicitly applies to AHRQ-funded research contractors and challenge competition award recipients. AHRQ says these are ‘‘minor revisions to the scope of respondents’’ and that no substantive changes to the core reporting content are being proposed.

Estimated time and money burden

AHRQ estimates 450 respondents per year will use ARRS, with each data entry taking about 30 minutes per response. The total annualized burden is 225 hours and an estimated total cost burden of $26,725.50.

Online reporting and frequency rules

All users must access ARRS through a secure online interface that requires authentication, and AHRQ will notify designated reporting officials by email when status reports are due. Reporting frequency varies by award type and programmatic need, from monthly to twice a year.
