Published Date: 9/2/2026

Notice

Summary

Cboe EDGX Exchange just got the green light to tweak its rules for Intermarket Sweep Orders (ISOs). Now, traders can send ISOs as hidden orders and let them adjust prices more aggressively, making trading faster and smarter. This change affects anyone trading on the Exchange and kicks in soon, helping markets run smoother without extra costs.

Analyzed Economic Effects

3 provisions identified: 3 benefits, 0 costs, 0 mixed.

Hidden Intermarket Sweep Orders Allowed

The Exchange now permits Intermarket Sweep Orders (ISOs) to be submitted as Non-Displayed (hidden) orders. The SEC approved this change in an order dated August 28, 2026. This allows traders on Cboe EDGX to send ISOs without displaying them on the EDGX Book.

Non-Displayed Orders May Re-Price Repeatedly

Non-Displayed Orders may now be set to re-price multiple times each time the NBBO changes, receiving a new timestamp and potentially being ranked at more aggressive prices while keeping their original limit. The SEC approved this change in the August 28, 2026 order. This can create more execution opportunities and increase liquidity at prevailing market prices.

When ISO Prices Become Available

The rule sets when the limit price of an ISO is considered available for other orders. During Regular Trading Hours (9:30 a.m.–4:00 p.m. ET) an ISO's limit price is treated as available for new orders and for resting orders to re-price; during the Early Trading Session (4:00 a.m.–8:00 a.m. ET), Pre-Opening (8:00 a.m.–9:30 a.m. ET), and Post-Closing (4:00 p.m.–8:00 p.m. ET) the limit price is not considered available for new orders or re-pricing.
