One-hour safety zone closes part of Lake St. Clair

On September 5, 2026, from 9:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., all vessels and people are prohibited from entering navigable waters within a 560-foot radius of the fireworks launch site at 42°24'30.85" N, 82°52'60" W in Lake St. Clair (Grosse Pointe Farms, MI) unless authorized by the Captain of the Port Detroit. If you planned to boat through or be in that area during that hour, you will be blocked from entry unless you obtain permission.

Must get COTP permission to enter zone

If you need to enter the safety zone during the enforcement period on September 5, 2026 (9:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.), you must obtain authorization from the Captain of the Port Detroit or their designated representative and comply with all lawful orders; to request permission contact the COTP or representative on VHF-FM channel 16.
