BLM Land-Use Permit Paperwork Continues
If you want to use, occupy, or develop public lands (for agricultural, residential, recreation, business, industrial, or commercial uses), you must continue to fill out the BLM Land Use Application and Permit (Form 2920-1). The form is covered by OMB Control Number 1004-0009, is scheduled to expire on September 30, 2026, and BLM is asking OMB to renew it for an additional three years; the agency estimates 407 annual respondents, 1 to 120 hours per response, 2,455 total annual burden hours, and $145,760 in total annual non-hour costs. Comments on this information collection are invited through October 13, 2026.

This proposed rule would establish pre-defined criteria for defined and repeatable common activities with similar environmental effects that, when met by an applicant, would result in a streamlined permitting process for qualifying production sites.
