Under Section 506 of RAY BAUM'S Act and an FCC Report and Order adopted August 1, 2019, Fixed Telephony providers and fixed Multi-Line Telephone Systems (MLTS) must convey a dispatchable location with 9-1-1 calls. For on‑premises non-fixed MLTS devices, the MLTS operator must provide automated dispatchable location when technically feasible, otherwise provide manual end‑user updates or alternative location; for off‑premises MLTS calls the operator must provide automatic dispatchable location if technically feasible, otherwise manual updates or enhanced (coordinate‑based) location information at reasonable cost.
