CSXT Authorized To Abandon 0.72‑Mile Rail Line

CSX Transportation filed to abandon an approximately 0.72‑mile rail line between milepost BBR 6.89 and BBR 7.61 in Anne Arundel County, Md. The exemption will be effective October 15, 2026 unless stayed; if CSXT does not file a notice of consummation by September 15, 2027 the abandonment authority will expire.

Deadlines To File OFAs and Trail Requests

Interested parties may file a formal expression of intent to file an Offer of Financial Assistance (OFA) or a trail use/railbanking request; petitions to stay, expressions of intent to file an OFA, and trail use requests must be filed by September 25, 2026. Petitions to reopen and requests for public use conditions must be filed by October 5, 2026.

Environmental Review And Comment Window

The carrier filed a combined environmental and historic report and the Board's Office of Environmental Analysis will issue a Draft Environmental Assessment by September 18, 2026. Comments on environmental or historic preservation matters must be filed within 15 days after the Draft EA becomes available.
