50% Duty Added to Some Canadian Goods

Certain products of Canada listed in Annex I, Part A will be subject to an additional ad valorem duty of 50 percent starting for goods entered or withdrawn for consumption on or after 12:01 a.m. eastern time on September 15, 2026. If you import or buy those Canadian goods (including motor vehicles or parts covered by the annex), the extra 50% duty will apply on top of other tariffs.

Tariffs Apply in Addition to Section 232 Duties

The additional 50 percent duties imposed (as modified) apply in addition to duties imposed under section 232 of the Trade Expansion Act of 1962. That means covered Canadian goods may face both the new 50% duty and any existing section 232 duties at the same time starting for goods entered or withdrawn for consumption on or after 12:01 a.m. eastern time on September 15, 2026.

Some Canadian Goods Removed From 50% Duty

Certain products of Canada listed in Annex I, Part B will no longer be subject to the additional ad valorem duty of 50 percent starting for goods entered or withdrawn for consumption on or after 12:01 a.m. eastern time on September 15, 2026. If you import or buy those specific Canadian goods, you will not pay the extra 50% duty after that date.
