Temporary Rio Grande Safety Zone

If you are on the Rio Grande River near Boca Chica, TX, you may not enter the waters within a half mile of the Massey's test facility (centered about 25°57'09.0" N, 97°14'50.0" W) during rocket testing unless the Captain of the Port (COTP) or a designated representative authorizes you. The zone is enforced during testing operations involving explosive or hazardous materials anytime between September 4, 2026, and October 31, 2026, with the rule effective without actual notice from September 15, 2026 through October 31, 2026; to request permission, contact the COTP on VHF-FM channel 16 or by phone at (800) 874-2143, and enforcement times will be announced by Broadcast Notices to Mariners (BNMs) and/or Marine Safety Information Bulletins (MSIBs).
