Louisiana SNAP excludes soda & candy

If you use SNAP in Louisiana, the State requested a demonstration project to change the SNAP definition of food so that "soft drinks, energy drinks, and candy" are excluded from purchases. The State first requested this change on June 27, 2025, FNA approved the initial request on August 4, 2025, and the State asked on or about December 4, 2025 to set the implementation date to February 18, 2026. FNA is inviting public comments on the project through October 15, 2026.
