Attestation Removed from PSLF Form
The Department removed an attestation from the PSLF/TEPSLF Certification & Application that would have required an employer to state, under penalty of perjury, that it has not engaged in activities with a substantial illegal purpose on or after July 1, 2026. A Federal judge vacated the rule on June 30, 2026, and the Department is removing that attestation from the form to comply with the court order.
PSLF Form Submission Timing Clarified
The PSLF/TEPSLF form is used to certify qualifying employment and track progress toward forgiveness. Borrowers are encouraged to submit the form annually but are only required to submit it when they have reached the 120 qualifying months of repayment needed for forgiveness.

Starting July 1, 2026, new rules will change how federal student loans work for grad students, parents, and professionals.
