Many more people now included

The DEA changed the Aviation Division Reporting System to cover many more people: DEA employees and detailees, DEA contractors (including pilots and unmanned aircraft operators), vendors, detainees and inmates, non-DEA law enforcement personnel, and other federal employees and contractors. This change is effective upon publication (October 7, 2026) and the public may comment by November 5, 2026.

Records may be used in Do Not Pay checks

DEA may disclose records to the U.S. Department of the Treasury for review through the Do Not Pay Working System to identify, prevent, or recoup improper payments to an applicant for, or recipient of, Federal funds, including funds disbursed by a state in a state-administered, federally funded program.

Records can be shared for hiring, clearance, and licensing

DEA may disclose records to federal, state, local, territorial, or tribal agencies and licensing bodies when the information is relevant to hiring, continued employment, security clearance decisions, contract awards, grants, or issuance/renewal of licenses or permits.

Wider law-enforcement and public disclosures allowed

Under routine uses, DEA may share records with the FAA, U.S. military departments, the Coast Guard, communications contractors, federal/state/local/tribal/foreign law enforcement, and may disclose information to the news media and the public under 28 CFR 50.2 unless release would be an unwarranted invasion of privacy.

How you can see and correct your records

If you are the subject of a record, you may request access through the DEA FOIA Public Access Link Portal (https://ifa.dea.gov/foia/) or by mail; requests must include your full name, current address, date and place of birth, and be signed and either notarized or submitted under penalty of perjury. You may also contest or request amendment of records through DEA's online portal or by mail following the procedures described at https://www.dea.gov/foia/foia-privacy-act.
