Cboe BYX Patches Trade Errors for Late-Night Sessions

Published Date: 10/13/2026

Notice

Summary

Cboe BYX Exchange is updating its rule about fixing big trading mistakes to match new overnight trading hours. This change helps traders by clearly defining when and how errors in trades can be corrected during extended hours. The update takes effect immediately and aims to keep trading fair and smooth, especially for those active in late-night markets.

Analyzed Economic Effects

2 provisions identified: 1 benefits, 0 costs, 1 mixed.

Overnight trades inside LULD bands generally final

If you trade during the overnight protected hours (9:00 p.m. ET through 4:00 a.m. ET), a trade executed inside the overnight price bands generally will not be eligible for "clearly erroneous" cancellation. The Exchange notes the Overnight Price Bands were initially approved as temporary static bands 20% above and below reference points, and this change becomes operative at the start of 23/5 Trading on December 6, 2026.

Rights/warrants eligible for overnight review

For NMS stocks not subject to the LULD Plan (for example, rights and warrants), trades executed during the Overnight Protected Hours will remain eligible for clearly erroneous review. Those transactions will be reviewed using the same Numerical Guidelines that apply to the Early Trading, Pre-Opening, and After Hours sessions, effective at the start of 23/5 Trading on December 6, 2026.
