FAA Fixes a Boeing 787 Safety Rule's Tiny Cross-Reference

Published Date: 10/23/2026

Rule

Summary

The FAA fixed a small mistake in a safety rule for Boeing 787 airplanes, making sure the right paragraph is referenced. This correction doesn’t change any deadlines or costs, and it kicks in on November 12, 2026. If you fly or fix these planes, this update keeps everything clear and on track!

Analyzed Economic Effects

3 provisions identified: 1 benefits, 2 costs, 0 mixed.

Hardware Replacement: Actuators Must Be Replaced

This AD requires replacing the leading edge outboard geared rotary actuator (GRA) with a leading edge outboard lockout actuator (LEOLA) at leading edge slat 2 and slat 11 per Boeing Alert Requirements Bulletin B787-81205-SB270055-00 RB, Issue 002, dated November 25, 2024. The AD states that completing those actions (paragraph (l)) terminates certain earlier requirements for that airplane.

Required Operational Checks and AFM/Program Revisions

If you operate Boeing 787-8/9/10 airplanes covered by this AD, you must perform repetitive operational checks of the leading edge outboard slats and revise the airplane flight manual (AFM) and your maintenance or inspection program. The AD restates that the AFM and maintenance/inspection program revisions were required within 60 days after October 11, 2019 (the effective date of AD 2019-20-07).

Correction Makes No Cost or Deadline Changes

The FAA fixed an incorrect paragraph reference in AD 2026-20-10 but did not change any deadlines or costs. The correction is effective November 12, 2026 and the AD’s effective date remains November 12, 2026.
