Longboard TerminalCo wants to build a new LNG facility in Honolulu, Hawai'i, and the government is asking the public for their thoughts on how it might affect the environment. People have until November 27, 2026, to share their ideas and concerns, which will help decide if the project moves forward. This is a big deal for local communities and the environment, and it could shape future energy plans and costs.
Analyzed Economic Effects
4 provisions identified: 2 benefits, 2 costs, 0 mixed.
Scale of land and seabed disturbance disclosed
FERC staff state that construction of the planned facilities would disturb about 270 acres of land and seabed, and that Longboard LNG would maintain about 27.3 acres for permanent operation while restoring the remaining acreage after construction.
Public comment deadline and scoping sessions
You can give input on the Longboard LNG Project in writing or orally. The Commission must receive written comments by 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time on November 27, 2026, and staff will hold public scoping sessions on November 18, 2026 (Imin International Conference Center, Honolulu) and November 19, 2026 (Kroc Center Hawai‘i, Ewa Beach), each scheduled from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Hawai‘i Standard Time.
Affected landowners placed on mailing list
If your property is a potential right-of-way grant, may be used temporarily for project purposes, or you own a home within certain distances of aboveground facilities, you are included on the project's environmental mailing list and will receive notices. You can update or remove your name/address from the mailing list by emailing [email protected] with docket number PF26-10-000 or returning the provided Mailing List Update Form.
Intervenor status available only after formal application
You cannot request intervenor status at this time. Once Longboard LNG files a formal application, the Commission will issue a notice establishing an intervention deadline; only intervenors then have the right to seek rehearing of the Commission's decision and be heard by the courts on appeal.
