Published Date: 11/6/2026

Proposed Rule

Summary

The FAA wants to update safety rules for certain Airbus A350 airplanes by adding stricter maintenance checks to keep them flying safely. This affects airlines operating these models and means they’ll need to follow new inspection schedules soon. Comments on these changes are open until December 21, 2026, so everyone has a chance to weigh in before the rules become final.

New mandatory A350 maintenance rules

If you operate Airbus A350-941 or A350-1041 airplanes with an original airworthiness or export certificate issued on or before December 1, 2025, you must revise your maintenance or inspection program to incorporate new or more restrictive airworthiness limitations specified in EASA AD 2024-0005, EASA AD 2025-0204, and EASA AD 2026-0034. The revision must be done within 90 days after the effective date of this FAA AD, and completing that revision will terminate certain prior AD requirements.

FAA cost estimate for A350 operators

The FAA estimates this proposed AD would affect 38 U.S.-registered airplanes. The FAA estimates a per-operator labor cost of $7,650 (90 work-hours x $85/hour) for the retained actions from AD 2024-19-03 and another $7,650 (90 work-hours x $85/hour) for the new proposed actions.
