Show full summary
- Registrants: Would add a new required registration item to name and give the address of each foreign government or foreign political party that participates in directing, planning, supervising, or controlling lobbying. The requirement does not apply to the registrant’s client.
- Foreign entities: Clarifies that "foreign governments" include agencies and subdivisions, such as regional or municipal units, so those bodies must be disclosed when they participate.
- Public transparency: Broadens disclosures beyond client information so the public and oversight bodies can see which foreign governments or parties shape lobbying efforts.

New foreign influence disclosures by lobbyists
If enacted, registered lobbyists would need to list any foreign government or foreign political party that helps direct their lobbying. They would have to give the name and address for each one, including agencies or local units of foreign governments. The client itself would not be listed under this new item. This would take effect upon enactment and would add reporting work for lobbyists while giving the public more transparency.
