More suicide prevention help for veterans
The bill would fund more suicide-prevention grants for veterans, authorizing $174 million for FY2021–FY2025 and $52.5 million for FY2026. The program would run through September 30, 2026. Applicants would need two years of U.S. mental health service and could include health care providers. Providers would have to tell people they may get VA emergent suicide care and notify VA if it is chosen. If VA does not provide care within 72 hours after referral, the person would be treated as eligible. New grants awarded after enactment would use the Columbia-Suicide Severity Rating Scale to assess risk.
VA coverage for adaptive prostheses
If enacted, the VA would explicitly cover adaptive prostheses and devices for sports or recreation. This could lower your out-of-pocket cost if you need one. The change would take effect upon enactment.
Later date for VA pension rule
