Summary
Helps small communications providers adopt Open RAN and open network standards. This bill would require the Assistant Secretary of Commerce for Communications and Information, acting through the Office of Internet Connectivity and Growth, to run outreach and provide technical assistance to small communications network providers. The outreach is meant to explain the uses, benefits, and challenges of Open RAN and other open network architectures and to help small providers take part in the Wireless Supply Chain Innovation Grant Program created in the William M. (Mac) Thornberry National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2021. The text also defines key terms for implementation.
