Stronger home protections for servicemembers
This bill would pause the adverse possession clock on your property while you are on military service. Time on duty would not count toward a squatter gaining ownership, even if state law would normally allow it. If enacted, this protection would take effect at enactment. The VA would also, within 45 days after enactment and after consulting the Attorney General, post guidance on securing property, leasing, and landlord-tenant rights. This could help you protect your home or rental while you serve.
