This bill would let the Secretary concerned approve removal of trees or other vegetation near electrical lines on covered Federal lands through special use permits or easements, so long as the work follows applicable land and resource management plans and environmental laws.
- Electric utilities: If a permit or easement authorizes removal, a utility may remove and keep or sell the material; if the utility sells any removed material it must give the Secretary the sale proceeds minus transportation costs, though the sale is not required.
- Federal land managers: For National Forest System lands the Secretary of Agriculture acting through the Forest Service, and for BLM lands the Secretary of the Interior acting through the Director of the Bureau of Land Management, would include these removal authorities in permits and easements.

Easier tree clearing on federal land
