Summary
Ban on legacy and donor-based admissions preferences. This bill would bar colleges that participate in federal student aid programs from giving any preferential treatment in admissions to applicants because of their relationship to donors or to alumni. It would add a new subsection to Section 487(a) of the Higher Education Act of 1965 to make this prohibition part of the statute that governs institutional eligibility for federal student assistance. The rule would take effect on the first day of the second award year that begins after enactment.
