Watchdog review of Mid-Atlantic river commissions
If enacted, the Government Accountability Office would review three Mid-Atlantic river commissions within one year of enactment. The review would check ethics rules, how they talk with the public, federal roles and actions, funding sources, overlap with other federal duties, and how they report their work. GAO would send a report to the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee and the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee with findings and recommendations. Within 90 days of that report, and then once a year for five years, each commission would send plans showing how it is meeting those recommendations. The commissions covered would be the Susquehanna, the Delaware, and the Interstate Commission on the Potomac River Basin.
