Summary
Deny federal funds to jurisdictions that do not cooperate with federal immigration enforcement. This bill would tie federal financial assistance eligibility to whether a state or local jurisdiction complies with 8 U.S.C. 1373 and honors or notifies on detainer requests under 8 U.S.C. 1226 and 1357, with the Attorney General monitoring compliance each year.

Federal funds tied to local immigration cooperation
If enacted, the Attorney General would each year name cities or states that do not follow federal immigration cooperation rules, like honoring lawful detainers or sharing status information. The Attorney General would send the list to Congress every March 1. Any listed area would be ineligible for Federal financial assistance for at least one year, using the definition in 31 U.S.C. 7501(a)(5). An area could regain eligibility only after the Attorney General certifies it is in compliance. Any Member of Congress could request a report on a specific area's compliance.
