Summary
10 percent production credit for distribution transformers. This bill would add distribution transformers to the advanced manufacturing production credit under Section 45X and adopt the Energy Policy and Conservation Act definition for what counts as a distribution transformer.

- Manufacturers. Producers of distribution transformers could claim a credit equal to 10 percent of the costs they incur to make those transformers. This targets the factories and suppliers that build critical grid equipment.
- Utilities and grid operators. The credit aims to boost domestic supply of distribution transformers used in critical utility infrastructure, which may ease procurement and replacement of aging equipment.
- Timing and scope. The change would apply to transformers produced and sold more than 90 days after enactment and uses the EPCA cross‑reference to define eligible transformers.

10% tax credit for transformer makers
If enacted, manufacturers of distribution transformers would be able to claim a new tax credit. The credit would equal 10% of the costs to produce each transformer. Producers must produce and sell the transformer to qualify. "Distribution transformer" would use the definition in the Energy Policy and Conservation Act. The credit would apply only to units produced and sold starting 90 days after enactment.
